Anyi, Gerawat, Paul among early birds in Mulu’s queue
MARUDI: Baram MP Anyi Ngau was among the first 250 voters who turned up at SK Long Jeeh in Long Silat Ulu Baram at 8.45am yesterday, with some senior citizens tipping fashionable hats in sunny apparel.
Also casting his vote in SK Long Jeeh was PKR Telang Usan candidate Roland Engan at about 8.30am.
Long Silat is one of 40 polling centres in Mulu constituency.
Several voters in the area were using longboats to go to the polling centre while others went there by four-wheel-drive vehicles.
Meanwhile, Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Mulu, Datuk Gerawat Gala cast his vote in Pa’ Ukat, Bario at 9.15am.
Independent candidate Dr Roland Dom Mattu cast his vote in Bario around 8am.
PKR’s Paul Baya cast his vote in Mulu at SK Long Panai in Apoh Baram at 8.10am.
DAP candidate Paul Raja did not vote yesterday.
He was supposed to vote in Tanjung Batu, Bintulu.
Mulu, one of the 11 new seats created following the redelineation exercise, has 8,627 registered voters.
