Repok goes back to BN
SARIKEI: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii has wrested the Repok seat from the opposition in a closely fought contest against DAP’s Yong Siew Wei.
Huang garnered a total of 7,774 votes against 6,503 by Yong and 376 by independent candidate Wong Chin King to win by a majority 861 votes.
Given an honour to give a short speech by returning officer Lim Hock Meng, Huang thanked the electorate for giving him the chance to represent them in Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s team.
He pledged to do his utmost to ensure the constituents have their fair share of development projects and other benefits.
He said he would look into ways to improve the livelihood of the local people, with special attention to be accorded to the rural folks to enable them to enjoy basic infrastructure and facilities.
In addition, he vowed to accord special attention to education in the constituency.
