Netizens: Sarawak loss a lesson for DAP, PKR
KUALA LUMPUR: The Barisan Nasional’s (BN) landslide victory in the Sarawak Election today is a lesson in humility for the Opposition, say Malaysians in the wake of BN’s 72-seat victory.
The state polls saw DAP and PKR winning only seven and three seats respectively out of the 82 seats contested. This is compared with DAP’s 12-seat victory in the last state election in 2011. PKR had won three seats then too.
The general consensus is that the dispute over seats by the Pakatan Harapan parties had cost them any chance of a better showing this time around.
“It’s still a very long way for Pakatan to win the election in Sarawak,” tweeted Beatrice James.
“Opposition. It’s time for you guys to rethink how to move ahead with your allies as ONE. BN regained 2/3 yo,” said a Twitter message from Paul Ooi.
Political blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin and his wife Marina Lee Abdullah had apparently made their own predictions as to the outcome of the Sarawak election.
“My wife Marina gave opposition 10 seats. I gave them 15-16. Marina was correct,” he said.
“As expected, BN won #SarawakElection. BN game is too strong, CM Adenan is the most favorable person in Sarawak right now. I can’t deny,” affa_alfaizah wrote on her Twitter account.
“Let this election be your education on working together. As if PAS wasn’t enough of an example. Let Sarawak teach you humility,” tweeted klubbkidd.
