Stop falling for BN’s lousy magic tricks, LGE tells rakyat

Guan Eng BN 1

GEORGE TOWN: Barisan Nasional (BN) has been described as a party of “lousy magicians” by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, who accused the ruling coalition of diverting attention from important national issues.

Lim said the Opposition front would therefore remain steadfast in combating the many untruths of the BN, despite the number of tricks they had up their sleeves.

He said the government ought to seriously look into ending the suffering of the people who were reeling from the effects of the country’s drop in revenue, including its frail economy and the gross misuse of sovereign funds.

“We all know that the BN and Umno will try to play magic, they think they can perform magic, where black can turn white and white can turn black.

“They can also do magic where billions of ringgit can go missing and the people would not know. And also mysteriously appear in someone’s bank accounts.”

He also said the people were tired of watching BN and Umno perform their magic tricks.

“If they (the people) want to see magic they would watch real magicians. Not like BN and Umno, even if they are magicians, they are lousy magicians,” Lim said in a press conference after attending the case management of his graft case at the High Court here today.

Lim reiterated that he was innocent and Malaysians would support a clean leader who would fight for their rights rather than “magicians.”

“The rakyat do not want magicians, they want leaders who are clean, trustworthy and those who support their rights.

“We (the Opposition) will not divert attention from current issues although I am faced with charges (of corruption), but my lawyers will prove me and the government we run is clean,” he said.

On June 30, Lim was charged with using his public office or position to obtain gratification for himself and his wife, Betty Chew, by approving an application by Magnificent Emblem Sdn Bhd to convert agricultural land for residential purpose during a state exco meeting on July 18, 2014.

Lim was also alleged to have used his position to obtain gratification by purchasing a bungalow from businesswoman Phang Li Koon for RM2.8 million, way below the property’s market value of RM4.7 million on July 28, 2015.

Lim has pleaded not guilty to both charges.
