A zookeeper was killed by a tiger in a ‘freak accident’ at an English zoo
A female zookeeper was killed on Monday by a tiger at Hamerton Zoo in the county of Cambridgeshire, about 80 miles north of London.
“We are sorry but our staff are too distressed to speak directly to the media, as one of our colleagues was killed at Hamerton Zoo Park, this morning,” the zoo said in a statement.
Zoo officials called the incident a “freak accident” and that no animals escaped from their enclosures.
“The incident is not believed to be suspicious,” Cambridgeshire police said in a statement on Monday night.
Hamerton Zoo will remain closed on Tuesday, May 30, during an investigation.
