Jamal Yunos out on police bail
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos (pic) was released at about 1.30pm on Monday (Dec 11) on police bail following the expiry of his remand order.
The Sungai Besar Umno division chief was detained on Saturday for threats he made to former de facto law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.
When met by reporters outside the Dang Wangi police headquarters, Jamal said he was disappointed that action was not been taken against Zaid.
“I have been inside the lockup for two days and I am appalled that no action was taken against Zaid.
“I'm not in the best of health but luckily I am released today,” he said.
The case is being investigated for intentional insult to provoke a breach of the peace under Section 504 of the Penal Code and for insulting behaviour under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act.
On Friday, Jamal said he would “hunt down” Zaid if the authorities did not arrest him over his remarks allegedly insulting the Selangor Sultan.
DAP’s Zaid had tweeted on Monday (Dec 4) that the Ruler should be “careful” with his words and that everyone would be affected if “the country burns”.
His tweets are believed to have been in response to the Sultan’s statements who warned that the deliberate use of sensitive issues to fish for votes in the general election would destroy the country.
