MIC wants two full ministers
PETALING JAYA: MIC wants two full ministers, as the party is “now united”.
MIC Youth chief Sivarraajh Chandran said in a statement today that it is time Prime Minister Najib Razak reverted to the pre-2014 situation where the party had two full ministers.
“MIC lost one (minister) during the crisis that hit the party in 2014 with two MICs – one under Datuk G. Palanivel and the other under Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam, tussling to take control of the party,” said Sivarraajh.
Since the tussle has been dealt with and put to rest, MIC now deserves two full ministerial posts, Sivarraajh said before lining up several reasons for the request.
“The party is now united and under the single and dynamic leadership of Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam. The party had settled all its problems and is gearing actively to battle the Opposition in the forthcoming 14th General Election.
“The rebels have all returned to the party’s fold and are working well under the new, more energised leadership of Dr Subra,” he said, adding that having two ministers will make MIC stronger and help solidify the support of Indian voters behind Barisan Nasional.
Sivarraajh said his request was timely as Najib had announced that a Cabinet reshuffle is due soon.
Subramaniam is Health Minister, while two other MIC men in the Cabinet are Deputy Youth and Sports Minister M Saravanan and Deputy Education Minister P Kamalanathan.
