PAC report on 1MDB to be debated in Parliament

PAC-1MDB KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) 1MDB report will be debated in the Dewan Rakyat.

A motion to debate the report by PAC on 1MDB’s Governance Management Control was submitted by Opposition leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (PKR-Permatang Pauh).

Her motion is listed as No 11 out of 15 motions put forward for debate in the parliamentary Order Paper.

The new session of Parliament started today and ends on May 26.

“The PAC in the report had given its conclusion and recommendations as well as its view on the limitations and weaknesses in 1MDB,” read the motion.

The motion added that the 1MDB issue was also being investigated by relevant authorities in Switzerland, United States, United Kingdom, Singapore, Luxembourg, Australia and Hong Kong on claims of corruption and money laundering.

“In view of that, the PAC report should be debated,” added the motion.

The PAC released a 106-page report on 1MDB on April 7, 2016.
