Abu Kassim visits MACC offices nationwide before ending service
ALOR STAR, July 20 — Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed will visit all MACC offices nationwide before his service ends on Aug 1.
He said the visits were to meet with MACC personnel and officers to thank them for their support in smoothening the businesses of the agency.
Abu Kassim said he also advised the personnel and officers to carry out their task well and to act based on the law.
“Today, I have visited two states, namely, Perlis and Kedah. I will visit the rest of the states before the date of my retirement,” he said when attending the Kedah MACC Aidilfitri Open House here, today.
According to him, he would continue his cause in anti-corruption after he is appointed as a member of the faculty (guest expert) of the International Anti-Corruption Academy, Austria.
He would also contribute his experience and expertise as a consultant at the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
Prior to this, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa confirmed that Abu Kassim would end his service as MACC Chief Commissioner from Aug 1.
Abu Kassim, 56, did not continue his service as chief commissioner although his contract should end in 2018 and mandatory retirement in the public service is in 2020.
The ending of his contract is in line with Subsection 5(3) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 (Act 694), the Yang di-Pertuan Agong consented to Abu Kassim’s request to end his contract with a month’s notice. — Bernama
