Taxi driver robs passenger, throws her out of vehicle
PETALING JAYA: A passenger was robbed by a taxi driver and thrown out of the vehicle in Bukit Sentosa, Hulu Selangor, today.
In a report by NST Online, Hulu Selangor Police Chief Superintendent R Supramaniam said that the female passenger suffered serious injuries to her backbone as a result of being pushed into a drain by the taxi driver.
The victim, a foreign student, was found lying inside a drain in Jalan Jenjarum 1C, Bukit Beruntung, in the morning.
She was believed to have had drinks earlier and had taken the taxi to go home from an entertainment outlet in Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur, according to Supramaniam.
The taxi driver took her handbag, which contained RM100 and her handphone, before throwing her out of the car, Supramaniam told NST Online.
“The victim said she tried to run after the taxi, but the driver sped off.
“Suddenly, the taxi returned to the location and the driver shoved her into a drain,” he was quoted as saying.
Members of the public assisted her by calling the police and ambulance.
Just two days ago, another woman reported she was robbed by a cabbie behind Subang Parade in Subang Jaya.
NST Online reported that the woman had hailed a cab to get to work. On the way there, the taxi driver stopped the vehicle and took out a knife.
Subang Jaya District Police Chief Asst Comm Mohammad Azlin Sadari said the cabbie had also showed the woman a gun.
The suspect took RM1,500 in cash, a mobile phone and the house keys from the victim before dropping her off outside a post office in SS15.
