20 EARLY WARNING SIGNS THAT CANCER IS GROWING IN YOUR BODY
Just before relying on testing so as to get some answers, you are already gifted with a natural testing machine: your own body. If you start listening closely to your body, very easily you can start getting hints about how to spot some diseases, such as the cancer, that you might otherwise overlook.
Here are some signs you should look for:
Indirect Symptoms
# Wheezing or shortness of breath
Some lung cancer patients remember noticing this as one of the first symptoms but they didn’t initially connect it to cancer.
# Frequent fevers or infections
Frequently the sign of leukemia, which is a cancer of the blood cells, starts in the bone marrow. It causes the marrow to produce irregular white blood cells that hinder the body’s infection-fighting abilities.
# Difficulty when swallowing
Most commonly these symptoms are associated with throat cancer, but they can also be a good indicator of lung cancer as well.
# Weakness and fatigue
This is a common symptom of cancer that needs be looked at in combination with some other symptoms in order to determine which one it is.
# Feeling full and unable to eat
This usually is a sign of ovarian cancer. A loss of appetite even when you haven’t eaten for a while is a tip-off.
# Anorexia
This could be an early sign of pancreatic cancer. If you feel a sudden disgust for coffee, wine or smoking it can also be linked to this.
Visible Bodily Changes
# Rectal bleeding or blood in stool
This is a common sign of colorectal cancer. Blood in the stool should be a sign big enough to go to a doctor immediately.
# Lumps in the neck, underarm or groin area
Swollen lymph nodes always indicate changes in the lymphatic system that can lead to cancer.
# Excessive bruising or bleeding that doesn’t stop
This suggests abnormalities with the red blood cells and platelets, and that can be a sign of leukemia. Leukemia cells crowd out the red blood cells impairing the blood’s ability to carry oxygen leading to clots.
# Bloating or abdominal weight gain
Some ovarian cancer patients reported unexplained bloating that came on unexpectedly and continued for a significant amount of time.
# Unexplained weight loss
This is another early sign of colon and other digestive cancers. It’s also a sign of cancer that has spread to the liver, affecting one’s appetite and the body’s ability to get rid of the waste.
# A red, sore, or swollen breast
This symptom indicates inflammatory breast cancer, and all unexplained changes have to be told to a doctor immediately. A nipple appearing flattened, inverted or turned sideways had also been noticed by several patients diagnosed with breast cancer.
# Swelling of facial features
There have been some lung cancer patients to report noticing puffiness, swelling or redness of the face. The small cell lung tumors usually block the blood vessels in the chest preventing the blood to flow freely to the head.
# Sore or lump on the skin that bleeds, becomes crusty or doesn’t heal
Different types of skin cancer (squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma and melanoma) can cause these symptoms, and that’s why you have to be aware of any odd-looking growths or spots.
# Changes in nails
A brown or black dot under the nail might indicate skin cancer. Pale or white nails could be a sign of liver cancer. “Clubbing”, the enlargement of the fingers with nails which curve down over the tips, could alsp be a sign of lung cancer.
Pain
# Unusually heavy or painful periods, bleeding between periods
This is a common sign of endometrial or uterine cancer. A transvaginal ultrasound needs to be considered if that problem persists.
# Chronic cough or chest pain
Leukemia and the lung tumors (among others), show symptoms that might mimic a bad cough or bronchitis. Several patients also reported a chest pain which extended to the shoulder and down to their arm.
# Pelvic or Abdominal pain
A pain and cramping in the pelvis might be connected to the bloating signs of ovarian cancer. Leukemia also does this since it enlarges the spleen.
# Pain in back or lower right side
Very often this is an early sign of liver cancer. Breast cancer can also be found through this symptom because the breast tumor can press backward into the chest or spread to the spine or the ribs.
# Upset stomach
A frequently upset stomach or stomach cramps can be a sign of colorectal cancer.
How to Reduce Your Risk
Vitamin D is a famous cancer preventative, so you need to normalize your levels through a careful sunlight exposure and supplement consumption. Keep your insulin levels down through reducing or eliminating processed food, because the insulin levels can influence prostate cancer. This can also be controlled and monitored by regular blood tests.
Regular exercise will not only keep your body in a good health, but it will also help to drive the insulin levels down. Higher lycopene plasma levels, the carotenoid pigment present in tomatoes and lots of berries and fruits was shown to lower the prostate cancer risk in men as well.
You have to reduce exposure to environmental toxins such as the pesticides, air pollution, household chemical cleaners, and synthetic air fresheners. Some studies even suggest that long-term cell phone usage more than 10 years could be connected to brain tumors. However, the improvements to cell phones over the years have debated the results.
