Selangor PAS ready to contest 45 state seats, 15 parliament
PAS is ready to contest in 45 out of 56 state seats and 15 out of 22 parliament seats in Selangor, barring any other agreements reached on seat distributions for the next 14th general elections.
Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad said the decision will be made based on current developments, so long as the party is no longer tied to any arrangements it previously had with the former Pakatan Rakyat coalition.
“…it will become a free for all (without any agreements) and we have submitted our candidates to the PAS central committee for their consideration,” said Iskandar at a press conference following a Selangor PAS gathering in Kuala Kubu Baru today.
Iskandar further revealed that Selangor PAS has shortlisted its candidates for more than 20 state seats and eight parliament seats.
Selangor PAS remains to be in a government with PKR and DAP, despite the dissolution of Pakatan Rakyat.
Selangor PAS’ move to increase the number of seats contested comes after similar declarations by the party’s Perak and Pahang state machineries.
Pahang PAS was reported to have drafted its own election plans by preparing to contest in at least 30 state seats and 10 parliament seats.
This is an increase from the 26 state seats and six parliament seats it contested for in GE13. From the figure, Pahang PAS had won three state seats and one parliament seat.
PAS Perak commissioner Razman Zakaria, meanwhile, reportedly said that it would be fielding candidates in 30 out of 59 state seats.- Mkini
