Prison visits allowed on third and fourth day of Aidilfitri
The Prisons Department says Muslim prisoners can meet their family members on June 27 and 28 and visiting hours are from 8.15am to 4.15pm.
KUALA LUMPUR: Muslim prisoners can meet their family members on the third and fourth days of the Aidilfitri celebration (June 27 and 28).
Prisons Department deputy director (Policy) Supri Hashim said this involved all prisons, rehabilitation centres nationwide as well as Henry Gurney schools. No visits would be allowed on the first two days of Aidilfitri.
“Priority for visits will be given to Muslim prisoners and visiting hours are from 8.15am to 4.15pm,” he said in a statement today.
To facilitate their visits, visitors are asked to bring their visiting and identification cards along with them.
He said outside food or drinks were not allowed.
“Visitors are advised not to give money to the prisoners as all their basic needs have been provided for by the Prisons Department.
“If they intend to do so for purposes such as examination fees, it must be included with an official receipt as a declaration of acceptance,” he said.
Visitors are also subject to a physical examination before entering and leaving the premises. -FMT
