Wan Azizah in tears while sharing her political journey

The PH president says she wants to make Malaysia a better place for the next generation.

wan-azizah-politik KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan (PH) president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was in tears today as she spoke about her political journey which began in 1999.

She started off by saying that she was not a politician but a politician’s wife.

“I still remember in 1999 that was the first time I joined the elections. I was a candidate.

“Whatever the tragedy that had hit my family, we made it a point to realise our potential.

As she wiped her tears away, Wan Azizah said she had continued her struggle to repay the country and to make Malaysia a better place to live in.

“That’s why I think we have to go to every individual who wants a better Malaysia and a better future,” she said during a forum titled 3-Cornered Fight: A Win for Pakatan Harapan.

Wan Azizah went into politics after her husband Anwar Ibrahim was jailed in 1999.

She said a lot of things had happened during that period of her life.

“There are certain things I can carry but there are certain things I cannot carry.

“I’m sorry if I get emotional, I’m just a mother, I watch my children and I want our children to have a better future,” she said.

During her opening speech at the forum earlier, Wan Azizah reminded PH of the obstacles ahead as it prepared for the 14th general election.

The first was the people’s perception of PH.

“We must overcome this problem, how do we regain the confidence of the voters? Will the voters be confident enough to give us that vote in the next general election,” she asked.

She also cautioned PH about PAS, reminding them that the Islamist party should not be taken lightly as they had been in the political arena for a long time.

PH consists of PKR, DAP and PAS off-shoot, Amanah, and PPBM.
