KUCHING: State PKR has announced that it will be contesting in 40 seats during the 11th state election.

Its chairman Baru Bian made the announcement during a press conference here today (April 22) but he only confirmed the names of the 35 candidates fielded by the party.

They are Francis Teron Kadap Noyet (Opar), Jazolkipli Numan (Tanjung Datu), Morni Samsudin (Pantai Damai), Nurhanim Mokhsen (Tupong), Mohamed Salleh Shawkatali (Satok), See Chee How (Batu Lintang), Voon Shiak Ni (Batu Kitang), Abang Junaidi Abang Gom (Asajaya), Athina Klaywa Sim (Serembu), Musa Ngog (Tarat), Alex Saben Nipong (Tebedu), Jamilah Baharuddin (Simunjan), Abang Zulkifli Abang Engkeh (Lingga), Nicholas Mujah Ason (Balai Ringin), Jubri Atak (Bukit Begunan), Nicholas Bawin (Engkilili), Kolien Liong (Batang Ai), Yakup Daud (Saribas), Vernon Kedit (Layar), Noel Changgai Bucking (Bukit Saban), Jemat Panjang (Kalaka), Ali Biju (Krian), Semana Sawang (Meluan), Chen Nguk Fa (Machan), Abdul Raafidin Majidi (Nangka), Simon Joseph (Tamin), Joshua Jabeng (Kakus), Abdul Jalil Bujang (Jepak), Bill Kayong (Bekenu), Mohdak Ismail (Lambir), Elia Bit (Marudi), Roland Engan (Telang Usan), Jamal Brahim (Bukit Sari), Alex Lihan (Belaga) and Baru himself who will be contesting in Ba Kelalan.

“The remaining five seats will be announced before nomination day,” he said.

When it was pointed out that nomination day was only two days away, Baru acknowledged this and remarked that the party was doing its best to finalise its last five candidates.

“The reason for this delay (in announcing the five candidates) is due to the overlapping of seats.

“We want to avoid this and that’s why we will only announce the five seats when it’s finalised,” he explained.

On what are the five seats they will be contesting in, Baru however declined to comment further, stating that the names will be announced soon.
