Sarawak Workers Party now BN-friendly
SIBU: The Sarawak Workers Party has decided to be a Barisan Nasional-friendly party and its 30,000 members have been advised to support all BN candidates in the 11th state election on May 7.
Its secretary-general, Munan Laja, said the decision was made after consultation with party branches statewide.
“SWP will be a BN-friendly party. We will support Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem and all the BN federal and state leaders, too.
“We are a small party and will contribute in our small way to the progress and stability of the state and country,” he said in a statement here today.
Munan is taking care of the party until its next triennial delegates conference after the abrupt resignation of its president Larry Sng Wei Shien a few days ago.
Sng had made preparations to contest the new Bukit Goram seat but later announced his decision not to.
Munan said party members respected his decision.
On another devlopment, Munan said he would mobilise party members to support Ambrose Blikau, the BN candidate for the Katibas seat, on nomination day on Monday in Song town.
