Darco bags wastewater treatment projects in M’sia worth S$2.8 mln

SINGAPORE: Darco Water Technologies Ltd has clinched several wastewater treatment engineering, procurement, and construction projects in Malaysia worth S$2.8 million.

Chief Executive Officer Thye Kim Meng said these involved the construction of ammoniacal nitrogen wastewater treatment system for a solar cell and nitrogenous fertiliser manufacturing plant with a total capacity of 57 cubic metres per hour.

“Darco is a technology focus company. The contract win is a strong endorsement to the Group’s capability and our competitive edge in providing effective solution to our customers to meet increasingly demanding effluent discharge standards.

“This will also reflect positively in our financial performance and outlook going forward,” Thye said in an announcement to Singapore Exchange (SGX) yesterday.

The Singapore Mainboard-listed Darco noted that the projects in Malaysia were equally complex and challenging.

The treatment process comprises a moving bed biofilm reactor system which improves reliability, simplify operation, and require less space than traditional wastewater treatment systems.

In addition, it is able to reduce the ammonium level from 5,000 parts per million (ppm) to less than 20 ppm to meet the effluent discharge standards set by the Department of Environment in Malaysia. It had secured the contracts in early 2016.

Established in 1999 and listed on SGX in 2002, Darco designs and delivers engineered solutions for water and wastewater systems for industrial and municipal customers. — Bernama
