Sri Lankan with forged Malaysian passport nabbed in Thailand
BANGKOK: The Thai Immigration Bureau detained a Sri Lankan man at the Chiangmai Airport, three days ago for possession of a forged Malaysian passport.
In a statement yesterday, the bureau said the 22-year-old suspect was nabbed by immigration enforcement officers at 5pm on Saturday, before he could board a flight to Hong Kong and then to Zurich.
“Based on investigations, we found that the man’s passport originally belonged to a Malaysian woman,” it said, adding that the authorities would conduct further investigations to find out if the case involved a fake passport syndicate.
