Boy whose genitals got stuck in escalator needs specialist’s attention
PETALING JAYA: A three-year-old boy whose genitals got stuck in an escalator in a mall in Bagan Serai yesterday needs to be attended to by specialists before any treatment can be done.
Mohd Rohaizat Abd Rahman is reportedly in a serious but stable condition.
According to Berita Harian, his stepfather, Mohd Rohizan Mohd Radzi, said Mohd Rohaizat’s foreskin and penis suffered serious injuries and required specialists’ attention.
“I hope that the doctors will do their best. If there is a need to circumcise, then I leave it to the experts, as long as my son can recover fully,” he said.
Mohd Rohizan explained that he was still waiting for more information and feedback from the doctors on whether or not surgery is required.
Hospital Taiping has called in a specialist from Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun in Ipoh to examine the boy before making any decision.
Mohd Rohizan said his son was very excited when they arrived at the mall as the family was there to visit the toy store on the second floor of the mall.
He said his son started running towards the escalator the moment they stepped foot into the mall.
“I tried to chase, but he already got past the first floor escalator and was already sitting on the second floor escalator.
“He suddenly screamed in pain when I got to him, and I saw that his pants was stuck in the escalator. Luckily there were people who acted swiftly to turn off the moving escalator and called the Fire Department for help,” he said.
