Police seize RM1.2m worth of Ecstasy pills
GEORGE TOWN: Police seized RM1.2 million worth of Ecstasy pills from a drug laboratory run by a married couple at a condo in Bayan Lepas on Monday.
Penang deputy police chief DCP A. Thaiveegan said police first detained a suspicious looking 31-year-old man in Jalan Relau.
He said the man was caught with about 10g of syabu crystals in a packet.
“The man then led us to a condominium not far away, where he and his 35-year-old wife ran a drug lab.
“There we seized 3,838 Ecstasy pills which were ready for distribution, ostensibly for the northern region,” Thaiveegan said in a press conference at the state police headquarters here today.
He added police also seized 8.7kg of Ecstasy in powder form, 0.3kg of ketamine, 0.024kg of cannabis and 75kg of caffeine powder. Other drug making paraphernalia were also seized.
The couple have been remanded until June 13 and they are being investigated for drug trafficking.
