Tom Hiddleston on those Bond rumours: Your guess is as good as mine
LONDON, June 8 — It looks like Tom Hiddleston may no longer be part of the game of musical casting chairs involving who will play the next James Bond.
Or so The Avengers star claimed in Philadelphia last weekend.
According to The Guardian, Hiddleston told an audience at the Wizard World Comic Con that he doesn’t believe he will be the next James Bond.
“I don’t think that announcement is coming,” Hiddleston was quoted as saying.
“I am very gratified to hear the enthusiasm. Your guess is as good as mine, to be honest.”
The 35-year-old actor has been a popular favourite to take over from Daniel Craig ever since he appeared in the BBC adaptation of John Le Carre’s The Night Manager, as an MI5 operative.
It should be noted, however, that Craig has not officially left the franchise, despite famously telling Time Out magazine that he would “rather slash my wrists” than play Bond again.
It’s fair to say that every British actor has been linked to the role at one time or another, including Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and Jamie Bell.
Coincidentally, the director of The Night Manager Susanne Bier is one of a handful of directors rumoured to be taking over from Sam Mendes on the 25th Bond film, The Guardian added.
