SCCI roundtable a platform for local biz community

KUCHING: About 40 people attended the first of a networking event series by the Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) held yesterday at The Canteen at the Old Courthouse.

The event, SCCI Business Roundtable, aims to provide the platform for both young entrepreneurs and established business owners to network.

According to its president Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Abang Openg, the networking event serves as an avenue for SCCI to engage with and educate members on the interests of the local business community.

“It is also a chance for the members to meet collaborators as well as to build networks,” he said during the event. “It is our wish for connections to be made, ideas to be realised and to create that excitement that can incorporate everyone’s business interests.”

Abdul Karim also disclosed that SCCI is in the process of initiating to establish an umbrella organisation for business promotions which they called Sarawak Business Federation.

“We believe that this organisation which expected to be launched next month, will work to address the common issues faced by all business bodies such as Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Sheda,” he said.

The event, which was also attended by SCCI committee members, will see more exciting programs lined up in the future to heighten membership’s benefits.

New members of SCCI are welcomed to join the event. For enquiries, contact SCCI Secretariat at 082-237148 or admin@scci.org.my.
