Traffic outrider run over while escorting Sukma secretariat

The traffic outrider in the middle of the intersection after being hit.

MIRI: A traffic outrider escorting the Sukma secretariat was run over at the Jalan Merbau traffic light intersection around 6pm this evening.

The entourage was on their back from Miri Indoor Stadium heading back to their hotel in the city centre when the incident happened.

He had stopped in the middle of the intersection and was indicating other motorists to stop when he was hit by a mini MPV. The driver of the mini MPV is assisting authorities with investigations into the accident.

The traffic outrider was sent to Miri Hospital.

He was temporarily being stationed here from Sabah to assist Miri traffic police during the duration of Sukma.

Traffic comes to a stop as police personnel and concerned citizens come to the victim’s aid.

At the time of writing, the victim is in the ICU.
