Airlines plan trips for food, nature and travel lovers
An airline alliance has created thematic round-the-world itineraries designed to appeal to different travel interests including food, wine, hiking and nature.
Star Alliance, which includes 28 member carriers, has taken the grunt work out of planning globetrotting adventures for food lovers, hiking enthusiasts and couples with their new themed holidays.
Member airlines include Air Canada, United, Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa and All Nippon Airways.
The food lovers’ itinerary, for instance, features stops in Lyon, the culinary capital of France, for their signature Lyonnaise sausages; Seoul for their beef ribs, galbi; and New York, for a sampling of the city’s masterful global fusion.
For nature lovers, the itinerary takes travellers to Australia where they’ll visit the Great Barrier Reef; Rio de Janeiro to see Sugarloaf Mountain, and Tromso, Norway, where they’ll behold the natural phenomenon of the Northern Lights.
And for couples looking to recharge their romance in the most indulgent and splashiest of ways, the romance-themed itinerary is curated to offer some of the world’s most stunning sunsets and backdrops. These include a gondola ride in Venice, and stays in the Maldives, Santorini, Phuket, along with a trip up the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Travellers can also customise their itinerary by adding the closest airport as their starting point, and add to or remove destinations included in the package.
Rival alliance One World also offers round-the-world fares with member carriers like British Airways, American Airlines and Cathay Pacific.
While Star Alliance has been offering round-the-world fares for more than a decade, luxury hotel brand Four Seasons upped the game with the recent launch of round-the-world tours aboard their new fleet of private jets.
The Four Seasons Private Jet Journeys includes all-inclusive culinary and cultural packages, with prices starting at US$106,000 (RM423,600). – AFP Relaxnews
