DR M HANDS NAJIB THE ULTIMATE WEAPON TO ‘CASTRATE’ ZAHID & TEAM B: POLICE SAY OPENING 2 INVESTIGATION PAPERS – ONE AGAINST DR M, THE OTHER ZAHID?
KUALA LUMPUR – Police say they will call in all relevant parties, which will include former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir and current Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, on police reports received that both men had conspired to topple the government.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid (pix) said that individuals from both camps have lodged reports against each other, he also revealed that two investigation papers have been opened on the case.
“We will carry out a very detailed investigation, and then we will submit our findings to the AG’s chambers,” he said at the launch of Sambutan Hari Hijau PDRM 2017 today.
“We will call everyone who is involved in this,” he said.
He added that the investigations will be carried out under section 500 of the penal code which is punishment for defamation.
In Jerlun yesterday, Zahid rubbished allegations that he had plotted a move to oust Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak two years ago.
Zahid countered by saying that he has an audio recording proving the baselessness of the claim. He added that it is illogical for him to initiate such an act as he had just been appointed deputy prime minister in the July 2015 Cabinet reshuffle.
Dr Mahathir recently claimed that Zahid had met with him soon after he was appointed to the position, seeking his blessings to topple Najib.
Meanwhile, he said that police have not ruled out the possibility of more arrests following six customs officers who were picked up last week for links with underworld gangs in smuggling drugs.
“We do not deny that more arrests will be made based on current investigations … We will see how,” he said.
theSun reported on Tuesday that the suspects in their 30s and 50s, were nabbed at the KL International Airport (KLIA) by a federal police CID team in an operation.
The six were believed to have colluded with the “360 Devan Gang,” notorious for its involvement in drug processing, trafficking and other illegal activities.
The detained officers comprised a customs superintendent while the rest were assistant superintendents, stationed at the KLIA’s baggage scanning unit, export unit, passenger clearance unit and the customs mail and courier unit.
Sources told theSun the six customs officers are currently in a police lock-up in Selangor, and could be held up to 28 days under Sosma laws.
