'Karate Kid' sequel series is coming to YouTube because everything old is new again

YouTube is waxing on with a new Karate Kid series — and we're talking OG Karate Kid, not the remake starring Jaden Smith. 

Mashable has confirmed that YouTube Red has ordered 10 episodes of a half-hour sequel series titled Cobra Kai, which will see original stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka reprise their roles as scrappy underdog Daniel LaRusso and blond bully Johnny Lawrence, respectively.

The series is set 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, a down-and-out Johnny Lawrence seeks redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo, reigniting his rivalry with a now successful Daniel LaRusso, who has been struggling to maintain balance in his life without the guidance of his mentor, Mr. Miyagi. The show is about two men addressing past demons and present frustrations the only way they know how: through karate. Read more...
