NAJIB DIGS HIS OWN GRAVE: IRB RAIDS MAHATHIR’S SON MOKHZANI’S COMPANIES

One of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s son’s companies was raided by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) yesterday, according to a source familiar with the matter.

“Yes, it is (true about the raid). Not today, yesterday,” the source said to Malaysiakini when contacted today.

Malaysiakini had sighted photographs purportedly taken during the raid earlier today.

The source also said it is believed that it was one of Mokhzani Mahathir’s companies which was raided by IRB yesterday.

It is unclear what the raid was for, or what the IRB had seized during the raid.

The raid comes in the wake of a series of calls from Umno ministers, such as Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad ZahidHamidi and Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Aziz for the wealth of Mahathir’s family to be investigated.

Mahathir, meanwhile, had said since last year that his friends and family are being harassed to stop him from harming the image of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

One of the things being done is that his friends and family are being “visited” by the Income Tax Department, he had said then.

Mokhzani was once listed 15th on the Forbes list of top 50 richest Malaysians, though he has slipped down to 34th in this year’s rankings.

Malaysiakini is currently attempting to contact the IRB on this matter.
