Ahmad Bashah’s ‘Kedah Declaration’ supports PM
KUALA LUMPUR: Kedah Menteri Besar Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah today handed in the “Kedah Declaration” to Prime Minister Najib Razak, voicing undivided support for his leadership.
The declaration, among others, criticised the move by former Premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad in trying to oust Najib as this was against the practice of democracy, Ahmad Bashah said.
“We are disappointed with Mahathir who is in cahoots with DAP, PKR and Amanah in the effort to oust Najib as the PM, ignoring the implications it will bring to the country and the people.
“We also criticise the actions of certain Umno leaders who still hold positions in the party, especially (sacked Deputy Prime Minister) Muhyiddin Yassin and (former Kedah MB) Mukhriz Mahathir, who also support the Opposition’s agenda in ousting Najib.”
In the declaration, Ahmad Bashah also urged the government to sack Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders from their positions in the party, government and in any government-linked companies for working to get rid of Najib.
He also called for disciplinary action to be taken against Umno rebels who were involved in the Citizens’ Declaration.
When met by reporters at the Parliament lobby, Ahmad Bashah said he handed in the declaration to Najib after it received the full support of all Umno divisions in Kedah.
“We are announcing this declaration in the presence of all Umno division leaders, assemblymen, Umno MPs and Umno senators, including the Youth, Wanita and Puteri chiefs of Kedah.
“This declaration was made to let the people know that Kedah supports the prime minister.”
