Johor Umno man reveals RM1mil plot to topple Muhyiddin
Johor’s Sri Gading division member Shukur Mohamad, told FMT that a movement initiated by one of the branch leaders in Muhyiddin’s constituency in Pagoh, was looking to gather enough support to declare their loss of confidence in the sacked deputy prime minister’s leadership.
“The head of the movement was promised RM1 million if he could get 20 branch leaders in Pagoh to work towards destroying Muhyiddin’s credibility.
“The offer apparently was made by a deputy minister who is also aiming to remove Johor Menteri Besar Khalid Nordin for the purpose of taking over the latter’s seat,” he claimed.
He further alleged the movement’s leader had also stated his commitment to evenly distribute the reward to the 20 branch leaders he is pursuing. However, the claim was that only four branches had agreed to it thus far.
Shukur, the son of Johor state assembly speaker Mohamad Aziz, was confident about the allegation as he had evidence and information from several members of the movement, that it was indeed true.
“They can sue or take me to court. I am not afraid as I have all the necessary information to prove my claim. I have exposed the movement as I strongly disagree with these efforts and the money spent just to protect a crook.”
A source FMT spoke to in an attempt to confirm Shukur’s allegation meanwhile claimed the movement was currently led by Seri Ledang Utara branch chief Zaaba Aman, a harsh and outspoken critic of Muhyiddin.
However when contacted, Zaaba denied the existence of any such movement and said Muhyiddin was destroying his credibility himself by rebelling against the Umno President and Prime Minister Najib Razak.
“Many Umno members like myself can’t accept his (Muhyiddin) leadership as he is no longer acting in line with the party. We, as rational members will not follow him when he jumps into a pit.
“And as a member of Umno he has to toe the party line. I don’t want to isolate myself from the other party members by supporting him as his present issues are not the fault of Umno. It is of his own doing.
“If he disagrees with the party president, with the prime minister, then he should settle the problem himself. Do not drag the Rakyat and other clueless Umno members down with him,” he said.
Zaaba also took the opportunity to reiterate his denial of any RM1 million plot to topple Muhyiddin, saying that Shukur’s allegation was nothing more than an evil plan to implicate him and others who have expressed their support for Najib instead of his former deputy.
