Feuding PKR and DAP launch separate manifestos in S’wak

sarawak,pkr,DAP PETALING JAYA: Sarawak PKR and DAP, engaged in a fierce feud over seat allocations, have launched separate manifestos for the May 7 state election.

The Star Online reported that DAP’s 10-point key policy reform and PKR’s 18-point roadmap however, were quite similar in the issues they touched on.

The manifestos covered land autonomy, education, public transportation and forest restoration.

PKR vice-president Dr Xavier Jayakumar was quoted acknowledging that there were not many differences between the manifestos of both parties while state DAP chief Chong Chieng Jen said “there are many other reasons” for the absence of a joint manifesto.

This differs from the Opposition pact’s joint manifesto in the last state election in 2011, when it was known as Pakatan Rakyat.

Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) deputy president Salahuddin Ayub however said his party would not release their own manifesto as they were only contesting in 13 seats.

Amanah is a partner in Pakatan Harapan, together with PKR and DAP.
