Kedah MB Ahmad Bashah recuperating well, says wife

The wife of the Kedah menteri besar, Datin Seri Hizam Awang Ahmad (second left), presents Aidilfitri aid to the disabled persons, orphans and the poor at Wisma Bidara in Alor Star, June 18 2016. — Bernama picALOR STAR, June 18 — Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah is recuperating well after surgery for an intestinal complication, said his wife Datin Seri Hizam Awang Ahmad.

He has started to walk again with the help of a cane after undergoing physiotherapy and can consume drinks by himself, she said today.

Hizam said Ahmad Bashah was expected to be moved to a normal ward soon at the Penang Hospital where he underwent the surgery on June 7.

“He was to have been transferred to a normal ward but asked to be kept in the Intensive Care Unit for privacy. This will also help speed up his recovery.

“He is not thinking too much about work as doctors have advised him to get a lot of rest in order to recover faster. I hope the people will continue to pray that he gets well soon,” she said after the donation of Aidilfitri cookies by the Association of Wives of Kedah MPs and State Assemblymen (Bidara) here today.

Hizam said Ahmad Bashah was scheduled to chair a meeting of the Kedah State Executive Council on June 22 at the Penang Hospital.

Ahmad Bashah was sent to the Kedah Medical Centre on June 4 after he complained of dizziness during a meeting with Barisan Nasional state assemblymen at the Grand Alora Hotel in Alor Star. He was moved to the Penang Hospital on June 6.

Earlier, Hizam presented the Aidilfitri cookies to 300 recipients, comprising orphans, single mothers, the poor as well as representatives of the Police Force, Armed Forces, Fire and Rescue Department, and the Immigration Department. — Bernama
