Shafie Apdal not arrested, says Parti Warisan Sabah
Parti Warisan Sabah vice-president Junz Wong has refuted rumour being circulated that his party president Mohd Shafie Apdal and fellow vice-president Peter Anthony were arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) last Saturday.
“Slander (fitnah)! Actually, it (the rumour) is not true. When the viral post happened, Shafie was in Sipitang, Sabah, that very same day.
“He was giving speeches when the thing (viral post) happened. So it is totally not true,” Wong told reporters outside the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya after lodging a report there on a separate issue today.
Warisan members have already lodged police reports over this false posting throughout Sabah, he said, and they hope the police will take action against whoever made this accusation.
It was previously reported that Sepanggar Warisan Wira chief Norazmi Alimat had said in his police report on this matter that a Facebook user under the name of Hafizi Harris had claimed that Shafie and Peter were about to be detained by the MACC.
An online article on a website called masterdedah.com included images of both Shafie and Peter wearing the MACC’s orange lock-up uniforms.
The images are believed to have been doctored. Both the Facebook posting and the article were posted last Saturday.
Kota Kinabalu police chief M Chandra reportedly said that the police are investigating the case for libel under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network facilities or services. - Mkini
