Zahid welcomes MACC probe over RM230m allegation
Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today he is ready to be investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) regarding former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s accusation that he had RM230 million in his bank account in 1996.
While Ahmad Zahid said that he is willing to be investigated by the MACC to debunk what he described as a lie, he also urged MACC to investigate the former prime minister and his family’s assets as well.
“I willingly offer myself to be investigated by the MACC to correct the perception and the lies spread by that person (Mahathir).
“At the same time, I ask that his assets and his family’s assets be investigated by MACC also. This is not a challenge, just a request... only then is it transparent.
“Do not just accuse others,” he said during his officiating speech at the Baling Umno delegates meeting today, reported Bernama.
