Correct your 'Dr M-Daim plot' claim, Anwar tells PKR MP

Anwar Ibrahim has advised PKR lawmaker Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid to correct his allegation that Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his trusted advisor Daim Zainuddin are hatching a plot.

Abdullah had claimed that Mahathir and Daim were colluding with PKR deputy president Azmin Ali to prevent Anwar from becoming the next prime minister.

However, Anwar reiterated that he has no problems with Mahathir, whom he had accused of authoring a political conspiracy against him in 1998 with fabricated allegations of sexual misconduct.

“So I advised him (Abdullah) to correct the allegation.

"I have spoken to him and he must resolve this (issue). I told him that it's baseless to link Tun M to the allegation," added the PKR president-elect.

Anwar said he is unsure if Abdullah has written a clarification in response to the letter issued by the party's complaints, appeal and discipline committee chairperson Syed Husin Ali.

Abdullah (photo), who is aligned to former Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli, had made the allegation during the campaign trail for the upcoming PKR polls.

He had claimed that voting for Azmin was akin to preventing Anwar from suceeding Mahathir.

Rafizi, who is challenging Azmin for the number two post, has remained silent on the allegation.

Both Mahathir and Azmin had denied the allegation.

Previously, Azmin also denied that Mahathir was using him to keep Anwar in check and this is the reason he was appointed economic affairs minister. - Mkini
