Former AG Abu Talib appointed to Tabung Haji board
Former attorney-general Abu Talib Othman has been appointed a member of the Tabung Haji board.
Tabung Haji, in an announcement on its website, said Abu Talib began his directorship on Aug 10, together with Malaysia Professional Accountancy Centre CEO Zaiton Mohd Hassan and deputy chairperson of Bank Negara's syariah advisory council, Ashraf Md Hashim.
Meanwhile, Ismail Bakar was named the Treasury representative for Tabung Haji from Aug 10. He is also the Treasury secretary-general.
Abu Talib currently spearheads the special committee on 1MDB, while Zaiton is also a director of Bank Islam, Sime Darby Plantations Bhd and Dolphin International Bhd.
Ashraf is also a member of the Securities Commission's syariah advisory council and chairperson of Bursa Malaysia syariah committee.
Mohammed Nor Md Yusof was appointed the Tabung Haji chairman on July 10, together with Zukri Samat as group managing director and CEO.
