Guan Eng might face further MACC grilling
Rayer, met by reporters outside MACC this evening, said the tail-end of the two-day interrogation had gone well without much trouble.
He said MACC may call up Lim again for questioning when necessary.
Lim left the Penang MACC headquarters in Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah at 7.45pm, having been there since 10am, with a lunch break from 1pm to 2.30pm.
Yesterday, MACC officers completed their questioning of Lim and his wife, Betty Chew, over about six hours.
Questions about possible corruption and conflict of interest have arisen about the bungalow purchase and any possible links to the sale of state land in Taman Manggis, said to have been earmarked for public housing.
Tasek Gelugor MP Shabudin Yahaya had brought up the RM2.8 million bungalow purchase at the Dewan Rakyat sitting in March. He questioned if Lim had purchased his bungalow from businesswoman Phang Li Koon at below the market price, while similar properties in the area went for between RM6 million and RM6.5 million.
Lim had stated there was no wrongdoing in the bungalow purchase as the price was determined on a “willing-buyer-willing-seller” basis.
However, questions arose about Phang’s links to her business partner who is the majority shareholder of Kuala Lumpur International Dental Centre Sdn Bhd, which purchased the state land in Taman Manggis for RM11.5 million.
Phang made a statutory declaration that she had no links with the Taman Manggis land purchase or the company that owns it. However, documents were made public that reportedly showed she and the KLIDC director were business partners in a Penang-based management company.
