Nik Mazian: Husam sacking a big loss for PAS
PETALING JAYA: The move to remove former vice-president Husam Musa will prove to be a great loss for PAS, Pasir Puteh MP Nik Mazian Nik Mohamad said today.
Calling the Salor assemblyman a loyal servant of the party, Nik Mazian said that Husam was also a protégé of the late PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.
“This is a great loss to PAS and will help any other party that Husam joins. He is a strong leader, a party veteran, and was also groomed by Tok Guru (Nik Aziz) to be a future leader for the country.
“The party also runs the risk of hurting its position by sacking Husam as it could see a repeat of the events of 1978 when PAS lost Kelantan after having sacked then leaders Muhamed Nasir and Mohd Asri Muda,” he told FMT.
Nik Mazian conceded however, that he respects the decision by the PAS leadership to remove Husam for breaking party regulations by criticising the party.
He also denied that some PAS leaders, including himself, will leave the party following the sacking of Husam.
“I will remain in PAS, that is my stand. I will not be following him (Husam) and will continue to fight for the party, and support its efforts in Kelantan.
“The PAS administration is good for the state and the leadership of Menteri Besar Ahmad Yaakob and his deputy Mohd Amar Abdullah are good, and have no problems in the state government,” he said.
Nik Mazian urged all PAS leaders and party members to continue to give their best for the party and to ensure its survival.
