Bringing the humble circus into the 21st century, sans elephants (VIDEO)
NEW YORK, Aug 6 — In the modern age of digital entertainment, the humble circus may seem like a thing of the past, but Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey is still going strong.
Producer Alana Feld is attempting to bring the circus into the 21st century with sci-fi storylines, a Ringling Brothers app, and perhaps most importantly, the retirement of the show’s Asian elephants, long awaited by animal rights activists.
But the circus just wouldn’t be the circus without a host of impressive creatures, and the show’s 75 remaining animals continue to draw crowds of both delighted spectators and furious demonstrators. — Bloomberg
