'Dandy Lion' brings a stunning street style to life

Inspired by her uncle and brother’s sharp style, Shantrelle Lewis’ new book Dandy Lion (Aperture) colorfully and boldly documents the Black Dandy movement. The book dives into the historic origins Dandyism showing it’s more than just a way of dress, it’s almost a form of rebellion. By appropriating classical European styles and infusing them fabrics and details from the African diaspora Dandy men, and women, buck stereotypes of race, gender and class of society places on them.
