Attempted arson at Penampang DAP office

Sabah DAP's Jannie Lasimbang says security guard was in office when he smelled something burning, finding an envelope on fire, with box of matches under door.

Jannie-Lasimbang-arsonKOTA KINABALU: The Penampang DAP service centre almost caught fire after someone pushed a burning envelope and matches under its wooden door.

Sabah DAP women’s wing chief Jannie Lasimbang said the incident happened at around 1.30pm in their Donggongon office, about 8km from here.

“I suspect whoever did this had bad intentions. So we decided to lodge a police report at the Penampang police station this afternoon,” she said.

According to Jannie, it was fortunate that at the time, the security guard was resting inside his office.

The security guard informed her that he had smelled something burning and went out of his office to look for the source.

“He told me that he saw the burning envelope and a box of matches slipped under the office’s main door,” she said.

Meanwhile, Jannie said her office is taking precautions and cooperating with the police in their investigation.
