Chong said the the original list did not include Bukit Goram but due to a last minute change, the party had decided to contest in the seat.
He added that the party was also eyeing Baleh for which the candidate would be announced “in a day or two.”
“I contacted SWP secretary general late yesterday evening and they confirmed that they would not be contesting in Bukit Goram, therefore we pulled our candidate from Baleh to Bukit Goram.
“For Bukit Goram, it’s one Larry out, another Larry in,” he said, adding that earlier negotiation agreed that SWP president Larry Sng would contest in the seat but Sng resigned from the party last night.
To a question, Chong said the party had already a potential candidate for Baleh.
Asked whether this would be the final list, he said “anything is possible in politics but as of now this is final.”
When asked how many Dayak seats DAP was confident of winning, he said: “We only contest where we are confident of winning.”
To another question, Chong said PKR was aware of DAP contesting in Bukit Goram, adding: “Bukit Goram is not within the 40 seats announced by PKR.”
