PKR: Winning more than three seats will be a bonus
KUCHING: After bickering with its ally DAP over seat allocations for the May 7 state election, Sarawak PKR today revealed it will contest 40 seats.
Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian said they would work to retain the three state seats they won previously and were hoping to snatch one or two more.
“That would be a bonus.
“It is an uphill task, but like people say, anything can happen in politics,” he told reporters at PKR’s “war room” in Kuching today.
In the last election, PKR won in Krian, Batu Lintang and Ba’Kelalan.
Baru, the Ba’Kelalan assemblyman, said the most important thing for PKR in the Sarawak election was introducing winnable candidates to represent the people.
“You will probably find out who the candidates are on nomination day (April 25). As I said, we will like to avoid seats our allies are contesting.”
To kick-start the campaign, Baru and PKR Vice-President Xavier Jeyakumar also unveiled the “Tree of Justice”, on which they will ask Sarawakians to hang notes containing their hopes and wishes for the future of the state.
