Police probing Ali Tinju for sedition
PETALING JAYA: Police are probing Red Shirts leader Mohd Ali Baharom, better known as Ali Tinju for sedition and criminal intimidation over his speech outside the DAP headquarters in Jalan Pudu, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
KL police chief Amar Singh Ishar Singh said city police viewed the group’s act as going against the law.
“Those present at the gathering besides Mohd Ali Baharom, were Ramesh Rao, Mejar (Rtd) Razali and ‘Ayah’ Hamid Chai,” Amar said in a statement released today.
Amar also reminded the public to be careful with their speech and actions which could potentially threaten national security.
On Thursday, a 30-odd crowd, led by Ali Tinju, gathered outside the DAP headquarters in Jalan Pudu to pass a memorandum calling for Penang Chief Minister and party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to go on leave pending a probe into his purchase of a bungalow priced at below market value.
There was a brouhaha when a Malay representative from DAP came out to collect the memo, at which point the protesters threatened to torch the building.
