Utusan suggests inside job in bungalow purchase leak

UtusanPETALING JAYA: The leaking of documents pertaining to the purchase of a bungalow by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng could very well be the work of a DAP member, an editorial in Utusan Malaysia claimed today.

The daily’s editor Zulkifli Jalil in a column yesterday, wrote of the possibility of many DAP members harbouring dissatisfaction over the way the largest Opposition party was run, specifically the “unfair” selection process of its top leaders.

He cited the case of Gobind Singh Deo, the son of the late DAP stalwart Karpal Singh, who was only named as Selangor DAP deputy chairman despite garnering more votes than Tony Pua who was retained as the chairman.

Gobind secured 736 votes, while Pua only managed 495 in the DAP state election last year.

Zulkfili also cited the example of Penang state party chief Chow Kon Yeow being sidelined in favour of Lim, despite the former having “given his all.”

“So if it’s not Umno, not Gerakan and not MCA, is it possible that the person who leaked or exposed information on the (bungalow) purchase is someone from Komtar or the chief minister’s office itself?

“Lim realises he has plenty of hidden enemies. In Selangor, Johor, Kedah and Malacca, are the state leaderships agreeable with him?

“Why didn’t Lim from day one point his finger to Umno and accuse the latter of being responsible for leaking the information instead of waiting a week after the issue had been publicised?”
