So drag-matic! ‘Drag Attack!’ lays siege on Sri Hartamas

By Matt Liew of The Level

If you’ve ever seen the notorious performer Kumar, who’s been making a scene (in the best sense of the term) across the causeway down south, you’ll have a pretty good idea what Drag Attack! is all about.

Promising to deliver splashy great fun, combining stand-up comedy with musical and dance performances, Drag Attack! is a glorious, flamboyant, feather boa-strung extravaganza. Definitely not one for the kids or the faint of heart (wimps!), Drag Attack! is definitely aimed at a more mature audience, and could even prove to be a little raunchy.
But the description of the show in its promotional poster makes it sound mouthwateringly tempting:
What do you get when you put Conchita Wurst, Rupaul and Priscilla together in one show? A hilarious must-watch battle of the Drag Divas that will leave you sashaying to Kylie, emoting to Mariah while you GaGa away, Like a Prayer to Madonna. Put on your fiercest heels, your sexiest lashes and mascara, get your disco fix on and unleash the inner drag in you and join us in the most fun night you will have since Wong Foo went on a journey of true self-discovery. Everyone welcome. Drags preferred.

Directed by (who else?) Joanne Kam, written by Ashraf Zain and Shamaine Othman, and with musical direction by Llew Marsh, Drag Attack! stars Ashraf Zain, Alfred Loh and Phraveen, with a different special guest star featured each night (a great reason to go back for repeat viewings!).
