Court sets June 14 and 15 to hear Shahrul Anuar and friend’s case of injuring mechanic

KUALA LUMPUR: -The Magistrate’s Court here yesterday fixed June 14 and 15 for the trial of Shahrul Anuar Abdul Aziz, 23, – previously charged for stealing a mobile phone from Low Yat Plaza – and his friend, on charges of injuring a mechanic, last February.

Magistrate Mohd Rehan Mohd Aris set the date after DPP Muhammad Farith Muhammad Faizal informed, that the representation petition filed to drop the charges by the defendants, Shahrul Anuar and his friend, Muhammad Shameer Zaidi, 19, was rejected by the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

The defendants submitted a letter of representation on April 4.

Shahrul Anuar and Muhammad Shameer each pleaded not guilty to wounding Hafizuddin Hamzah, 27, with a machete, in front of the Mizan Racing Tuned workshop in Jalan Jelatek, here, at 3.30am, on Feb 20.

They were charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail sentence of up to three years, or fine, or whipping, or any two of the penalties, if convicted.

Both the accused were represented by counsel Mohd Khairul Azam Abdul Aziz.

On July 14 last year, Shahrul Anuar pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court here to a charge of stealing a mobile phone worth RM800 from Techasia Boutique, Low Yat Plaza, in Bukit Bintang,  at 4.47pm, on July 11, 2015.

He was charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of 10 years, and a fine upon conviction.

Shahrul Anuar was also fined RM2,000 by the Magistrate’s Court on Feb 12, after pleading guilty to a charge of drug abuse on July 12, 2015. — Bernama
