Bomb scare delays flight to Indonesia
PETALING JAYA: An airline employee misunderstood what three Indonesian passengers were saying and this led to a bomb scare at the Batu Berendam International Airport in Malacca today.
As a result, a flight to Pekan Baru, Indonesia, from the airport was delayed for nearly two hours.
The incident happened about 10.50am when a 27-year-old check-in employee of an airline claimed that three Indonesian passengers had said that there were liquid explosives in their luggage, Star Online reported.
The man and two women were thoroughly checked and a police bomb squad was also summoned.
Melaka Tengah District Police chief ACP Shaikh Abdul Adzis Shaikh Abdullah said the employee had misunderstood what the Indonesians had said.
The 12.15pm flight finally took off at 2pm.
