HK-bound Dragonair U-turns, makes emergency landing in Kota Kinabalu
KOTA KINABALU, Aug 16 — An A320 Airbus bound for Hong Kong made a u-turn here at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport after discovering technical issues almost halfway through the three hour flight today.
Senior airport manager Sunif Naiman confirmed the incident and said all 160 passengers of the Dragonair flight were reported to be safe after the emergency landing.
“The aircraft departed at 12.23pm and they found a hydraulic failure half way through and decided to return to base. The flight landed safely at 2.13pm,” Sunif told Malay Mail Online when contacted.
“Confirm all 160 passenger are safe,” he added.
The incident on Dragonair flight KA060 was declared a full emergency, but landed safely.
An airline staff contacted said that plans were being made to have passengers continue their journey, either on other airlines or at a later date.
