“Peng Soon-Liu Wei are doing the nation proud. They will be creating history and we will be there for them,” its group managing director Datuk Eddie Chai said in a statement today.

“XOX wants to invite all Malaysians to provide spiritual and emotional support to these national sporting heroes in their quest for glory and a place in the history books,” he added.

The pair, ranked world number 11, turned giant slayers in their march to the final by defeating world number six Xu Chen/Ma Jin of China in the semifinals on Monday (early today) despite starting as the ‘underdogs’ in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

Peng Soon-Liu Ying would be challenged by Indonesia’s Tontowi Ahmad/Lillyana Natsir in the battle for the elusive gold at 11.30pm tomorrow. ― Bernama
