DRUGS & THE YOUNG & HANDSOME ‘DATUK SERI’: IS THIS WHY HE WAS SO STRONG HE COULD SINGLE-HANDEDLY BEAT UP RELA TRIO

KUALA LUMPUR – A 29-year old man with the title ‘Datuk Seri’, who allegedly assaulted three People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) members, has tested positive for drug.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim said the suspect was under the influence of drugs when he surrendered himself to the police at Ampang Jaya district police headquarters on Monday.

“Urine test showed that he was positive for drug,” Noor Rashid told reporters when met at the Deepavali celebration at the City police contingent headquarters on Wednesday.

Noor Rashid said the suspect also has a record of drug offence.

Police are still investigating whether he was under the drug influence when he was said to have assaulted the Rela trio last week.

On claims that the suspect possessed a gun, Noor Rashid said so far police found no such evidence but if it’s true that he has a licence to own a gun, the Inspector-General of Police would take the appropriate action to revoke his licence.

Last Friday, the Datuk Seri was reportedly involved in the assault of three Rela men – Ranbo Lee, 27, Jackie Leong, 21, and Melvin Cheong, 19 – when they asked him to move his Toyota Vellfire, which was obstructing traffic.

In the 6.30am incident, which happened near Kau Ong Yah Temple at Ampang, Lee suffered bruises and swelling on his left eye. It is also understood that Leong was kicked and Cheong was hit on the back of his head.

The Datuk Seri was said to have offered RM10,000 to each of the victims to withdraw their reports. The offer was allegedly made via a middleman.

Police are now investigating the man for causing hurt and obstructing public servants from discharging their duties, under Section 324 and Section 186 of the Penal Code. He is remanded until Friday.
